For is a preposition. Actually gramatically it is incorrect to end a sentence with a preposition, but we do it a lot. For Example:
Who are you going WITH?
I have not heard from him SINCE.
They went IN. ...and so on.
Because in informal language, "For what are you looking?" sounds less relevant than "What are you looking for?"
But you can end questions with for. For example: What do you want me to answer this FOR?
